Valentine's Day is Coming! It's one of my favorite holidays. I don't really focus on the romantic side much, but I love the Valentine's Day traditions we associate with being a child: cards for all your friends, sweets and candy, the decorations, the colors, the focus on showing others that you care; that stuff makes me love Valentine's Day.
Matt and I usually call in for take-out from our favorite restaurant and have an in-door picnic instead of trying to get a reservation. We also try to plan a creative project or outing to do together, instead of a typical "date." Last year we had a massive IKEA undertaking, and the year before that we went to a local craft show and bought some wall art. This year we're still working on what we want to do, but we know it's going to be something that will improve our home and make it more "us"
That being said, I still go a little nuts with the Valentine's decor. It's just so much fun to work with pastel colors, or even more nontraditional valentine colors.
This quick DIY is perfect for Valentine's Day, but is also a cute idea for a nursery, office, or any other place that needs a quick burst of color and charm.
- Small wooden hearts (I found mine at Michael's)
- acrylic paint and brush
- cord or twine
- hot glue gun
- Paint your wooden hearts on both sides with your chosen colors. I also left some of mine unpainted to mix in.
- Place a dot of hot glue in the upper middle part of each heart and glue to your twine.
- Hang up and admire!
That's it! Quick and simple, but oh so cute!
