I'm lucky to live in an area where I can walk to a lot of local shops and cafes. One of our favorite weekend "dates" is walking to the farmers market, and on the way grabbing a cup of coffee from a local coffee shop.
As I write this, it's a nice 60*F, and I definitely do not need an ear warmer, but it won't last long, and it will be 30-something degrees and snowy again soon.
This little headband is a nice layer on a chilly morning. I'm not a big hat person, which is something I'm trying to change, but I do love a good headband or ear warmer. I throw my hair up in a messy bun and I'm good to go get my morning coffee.
Free Crochet Pattern: Morning Walk Headband
Note: This headband is made flat and sewn into a circle when finished. It is a pretty fast little project, and the stitch is one of my favorites for an easy but beautiful texture.
- Caron Simply Soft Yarn
- G hook (4.25mm)
Row 1: Foundation sc chain 75 (or however many you need to go around your head). There is an amazing foundation chain tutorial found here.
Row 2: ch 1, turn, sc across (75)
Row 3: ch2, turn, *hdc, ss* across (75)
Row 4: ch 1, turn, *ss, hdc* across (75)
Rows 5-11: repeat rows 3 and 4 again 3 more times
Row 12: repeat row 3
Row 13: sc across
Row 14: sc across, ch1, sc down side (1 sc in each row=14sc down)
Cut yarn, but leave a long tail for sewing.
Using the tail, sew the two short sides together. As you have crocheted down one side, it is easy to "hide" your stitches by sewing in the back of those side sc's. It creates a seam, but it's a neat seam, as opposed to a somewhat messy one I always end up making.
All finished! These are great to whip up and give away if you need a last-minute gift. I even gave away a few as Valentines!
